Answered: Question on Quixel Export Target

Hello.

I have a question regarding the Quixel Export Target settings. I`m not entirely sure I understand what they do
My render target is Marmoset 3, and I am using a Spec/Gloss workflow with the GGX reflection model. 

Either the  "Toolbag 2" setting or "Specular PBR (GGX)" will output Albedo/Spec/Gloss/Normal textures, but will it alter the final textures in any way from one setting to another? (ie: adjust roughness curve or anything of the sort) or is it just a way of telling what final textures you want it output (ie: specular map vs metal map) without doing any post processing on the files.

I did a quick search for the forum and didn't have any hits.

After searching the contents of the Quixel Suite install folder I wasn't able to find any .shader files :/

This would be pretty helpful as the "Unity Metalness" workflow in DDO doesn't quite match the Metalness behavior of the custom shader that I have to use in my current project.

hello,

there are lot´s of different "flesh" and "guts" on the library - but no bones. I think this should be added asap, because it is kind of general material, like concrete and such!

Hello,

i've just a pretty short question. I've around 30 textrues, meshes etc in my megascans libary. is there any way to download the whole libary or does i need to click every piece by hand to download it single?

Im having issues witht the latest photoshop and quixel version. They somehow dont work together. When i open quixel it tells me to run PS as an admin and close it again. Did that and when I click Quixel again, PS opens but when I click NDO2, nothin opens. Not the window nor DDO. This is extremely frustrating. I feel like Quixel is far behind their competitors and theres so little documentation and troubleshoot.

Hi, 

I was wondering if there was a way of creating seamless textures on a low poly objects with hard edges in DDO? 

It looks like whenever I use DDO the materials completely ignore the scale and world space orientation of the UV's. It leaves me with an object that has visible seams all over the place which isn't ideal. 

Is there some sort of tick box that I am missing? If not, I'm struggling to see how it's possible to use this for any sort of texturing pipeline.

Hello everyone,

I am new to 3d modeling and have not even begun texturing yet and I have a major problem I need some help with. I created a model in Sketchup then imported into 3DS Max as said and all is well, until I create the UV. When I create the UV there are many outside borders missing and even worse what looks like a zillion unnecessary polygons that Max apparently just decided to create when in Sketchup I had less than probably 50. The faces are all like they should be, not reversed and I didn't add any more polygons than I intended.

When I go into Quixel 3DO to look at my model it has black spots where these random polygons are...

Best way to create this as a texture?

Hi,

If I want to create this as a texture in Quixel NDO and DDO how would I do it? All I can think of is use an aluminum material on a tile in PS and then go into NDO and normal detail the grooves, but not certain if this is right. I think if I want to do this then I would have to go into Max or any modeling software, create a flat plane I guess in the 0,1 space, UV unwrap it and fit it in the space, then import it into DDO?


What happened to the presets in Ndo and why does it suck now?

Ok so is it just me or does NDo completely suck in Quixel Suite? It used to be that Ndo came with a boat load of presets for converting photo textures into normal maps and now there's not a single one. Not to mention that the results of a photo to normal are absolutely horrid now. I would use the legacy Ndo2 but sadly I had to reinstall windows and since I did I can't activate Ndo2 anymore. Emailed Quixel and they said they've shut down the servers so they upgraded me to Quixel Suite. Literally the only reason I used Ndo was for it's amazing conversion of Photos to normal maps.

I'm new here as well as new to everything. So please bear with me. I'm wanting to get into map making and the like for games. I'm looking at the freelancer subscription with megascans because I really wanna do realistic scenes and maps. I'm wanting to know why it wants me to choose a max resolution before asking for billing info. And should I choose 8k just in case I want to play around to make a scene instead of game developement, do I still have access to the 4k and 2k assets? Or if I choose 8k am I limited to just 8k? Under the pricing guide it shows 4k-8k which made me think it included both. But when checking out it wants me to choose. Before I pay money and set up the subscription I want to clarify why exactly the choice is there and if it can be changed later. As well as ensure I make the right choice. Does anyone know the answer?

Hi,

Sorry for ranting, but this release is unusable. It's super slow- minutes to load that smart material preset interface- super buggy- crashes all the time, suddenly stops recognizing the IDs, crashes on load ( despite admin rights etc.), it's inconsistent- like suddenly the glossiness just changes for no obvious reason. I lost hours- HOURS- for something I would have done in no time in the old one- which was also pretty buggy btw. but not like this. MFGIHF! Huh! Ok! Question to the developer, is there a fix in sight? How can I downgrade? If I downgrade, do I have to worry about backards compatibility?

Grass flipped on it's side

I am noticing that a few of the grass models are flipped on it's side when I import to UE4. Am I importing these with incorrect translations, or is this a mistake in the library itself? Also, I bought both the "tall grass" and "clumped grass" assets, and the models themselves have the same names, which I found a slightly counter intuitive. Both are just called "Var1_LOD0" and so on.

Hi guys, I'm having trouble utilizing color id masking for handpainted textures.
They work fine for smart materials, but if I try to use any paint layers I run into a bit of trouble.
So far it: 
1) Masks properly, but after painting some more all of the albedo disappears after leaving painting mode.
2) Doesn't mask to color id. 
Am I doing something wrong? D:

^I know it doesn't mask while in paint mode, I just couldn't get it to mask properly at all anymore for a screen capture. :v

hi I've been searching the internet for the past hour and I'm sick of finding fixes that don't actually fix this so can someone please help me? everytime I create a new material or new layer it will show up in PS but not in the DDO interface, this is really frustrating as I would like to use the masking tools that DDO offers to help speed up my workflow. Never had this issue until I reinstalled on windows 10 today.

I hope someone is able to point me in the right direction with this as i feel like i have exhausted every option i can think of besides doing a clean windows install. 

This issue suddenly started with the 2.2 version using Photoshop CC2015. I tried updating first after uninstalling them, and upgrading to the latest version 2.3 and CC2017. I have also followed advice in other threads like trying to install the Suite in different directories/ drives and running photoshop as administrator first. Another avenue i have explored is disabling UAC restrictions in windows itself, in addition to cleaning any 2.2 directories that i could find, but so far everything yields the same result.

This is the error message i get every time. After this it goes to the Adobe directory to ask  for the Photoshop version i want to use and once i select the .exe file it asks for a reload and loops back again to the same error message.

If anyone has any experience dealing with this i would kindly appreciate any help.

I have all my assets in maya properly grouped but for some reason with I export as OBJ and try and upload to Ddo it doesn't read the groups correctly it like makes its own it's very strange.
